Web 2.0 Continues

I did like the Farecast and Kayak sites. These are great sources for all to use. We all like to look for a good deal. I did a search under employment and a web site I found interesting was employmentguide.com. You can take a free career test to put yourself in right direction if your not sure what kind of job you would want. Web site offers job search resources including job fairs, career advice and other helpful strategies. Another web site under employment was monster.com. In this one their were tabs for profile and resume, jobs-to search and browse, career tools, and advice. Both sites looked very helpful for someone looking for a job.

Dark side of the web

The dark side of the web class was an informative one. Learning to be safe on the web as we know is very important. It's good to know the safeguard products out there to help us be safe. The videos on identity theft showd how easily it can happen to anyone and any time.

Life long learning for everyone

Life long learnig is a very healthy way to keep our minds going. With technology moving faster all the time, nothing can stop people from growing. It's great and in everyones hands at home. The videos of the librarians were interesting and can be true to life. This lesson was a real eye opener to education on the computer.

OCLS and Library 2.0

It's amazing to see OCLS keeping up with technology. Staff sharing their photos on Flickr is very interesting. Community and staff sharing memories of this area with Orlando Memory is exciting. The open format of staff sharing ideas with Orange Seed is good for all of OCLS staff.

Chain, chain, change

The library is constantly changing which helps us all grow. In the mission statement for the library, I like the part that library brings value to its residents in so many ways. It provides something for everyone through collections, staff, services and facilities. Patrons enjoy dvd's for entertainment, books for education and unlimited interests, computer classes, programs of all kinds. Most people grew up with going to the library for book reports, term papers or just for fun reading. I know I did. I enjoy the library.

Open Source

Open source seems like a friendly way to communicate. We have Wikis at the library for depts. and branches, so everyone can stay informed to whats going on in the library. OCLS technology makes it easier for patrons to get their books and questions answered. Patrons can reserve their items to be sent to their home anytime on the computer. Patrons can e-mail us and we e-mail them back for whatever they may need. Communication is getting easier and better all the time.
